Fear has gripped Kiharu village in Murang’a following the discovery of five bodies dumped in rivers within a month.
Last week a mutilated body of a woman was found decomposing in Itare River while another of a middle- aged woman was found in Murari River, at a spot where another body of a woman known as ‘Tata’ was found partially naked.
Murang’a county commander Naomi Ichami has said the murders appear to have been carried out by an organised gang and appealed to the public to volunteer information which could lead to the arrest.
Meanwhile Kirathe Mwangi Murang’a, county mortuary superintendent says there are as many as 35 unclaimed bodies in the facility and warns they will be disposed of unless relatives claim them.
